MR. MICHAEL J. CHERSKOV
Mr. Cherskov, a partner in the firm, holds a B.A. in Chemistry from
Maryville College, Maryville, Tennessee, an M.S. in Science Communication
from Boston University, and a J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago.
Both of his undergraduate and graduate theses concentrated on biomass-to-energy
conversion technologies.
Mr. Cherskov is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and all state and federal
courts.
Mr. Cherskov has expertise in prosecuting chemical, biotechnology, and
mechanical engineering patent applications to issuance in such diverse
areas as electric car electrode fabrication, composites, coal flotation
methodologies, nuclear reactor targets and containment building
structures, low-level waste containment, DNA sequencing, protein
engineering, and plasmid/bacteriophage applications.
Mr. Cherskov also has extensive experience both in prosecuting
trademark applications and in patent, copyright, licensing, and trade
secret litigation matters.
Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Cherskov was a science reporter/editor at
major science publications in the United States, including
Biotechnology News, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA),
Industrial Research and Development Magazine (IR&D Magazine), and
American Medical News.
Before becoming a patent lawyer, Mr. Cherskov was a guardian ad litem at Cook County Juvenile Court, Chicago.
Mr. Cherskov is an active member of the Chicago Section of the American Chemical Society.
